On Sunday nights through December 17th, Tabla is celebrating its recent distinction as New York’s only Indian restaurant to receive the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence by giving wine away, for free. Buy one bottle of wine and you will receive a second bottle as a gift from Tabla. You can either choose a second identical bottle, one of lesser value, or choose to put the value of their first bottle towards the purchase of a second more expensive bottle. EU- Not BYO!!!

Ouch- it sucks to be EU.  they spent $1 millon only to be denied a liquor license and now they've been busted for allowing ANY booze inside- even on a BYO basis.

11 Madison Park- Kudos!

Enjoyed a terrific meal here Saturday night-  The wine service is excellent- no attitude about BYO, great glasses, decanting, etc.  $20-  among the best in NYC for BYO. 

Two Openings- Gilt and A Voce

Two buzzy new places with corkage- 
Gilt- $75 assuming the wine isn't on their list.  High end "cutting edge"

Gramercy Tavern now $30

Had a nice meal in the Front Room at Gramercy last night- got the bill and was a little surprised at the $30 corkage fee- up from the previous fee of $20.  Didn't follow my own advice- always call in advance to check- wouldn't have changed my mind, but better than no surprise.

A note from a friend tells me that Beacon has $35 corkage with good glasses and service and will often waive corkage for a notable bottle!
